Refractoriness refers to the ability of refractory materials to maintain their structural integrity and chemical stability at temperatures. The load softening temperature is the temperature at which a material begins to deform and flow under a given load. The sintering temperature is the lowest temperature at which chemical occur between the particles of a powder material during the process of compaction at a certain temperature, thus forming a solid material. These three concepts are all related to the properties and behavior materials at high temperatures, but they focus on different aspects. 1. Refractoriness (耐火度) Refractoriness refers to the ability of refract materials to maintain their physical and chemical stability at high temperatures. It is usually expressed by the fusion point or melting temperature of the material, that is, the lowest temperature at which the begins to soften or melt. In practical applications, refractoriness can also be expressed by the degree of weight loss of the material after being eroded by high temperature for a certain of time. Materials with high refractoriness are mainly used in high-temperature industrial fields, such as furnace walls, insulation layers, casting materials, etc. Recommended reading Test methods for refractoriness of refractory materials 2. Load Softening Temperature (荷重软化温度) The load softening temperature refers to the at which a material begins to deform and flow under a given load. It is an important parameter for describing the ability of a material to resist deformation and plastic deformation. This parameter is determined through thermal expansion tests or thermal bending tests. The higher the load softening temperature, the better the ability of the material to resist deformation at high temperatures, making it suitable for that withstand high-temperature loads, such as the burner mouth of a kiln and the lining of a sintering furnace. The load softening temperature of refract bricks refers to the temperature at which refractory bricks reach a certain specific compressive deformation under the combined action of a certain weight load and heat load, characterizing the ability of refory bricks to maintain stability under the combined action of heavy load and high temperature heat load. The load softening temperature is an important technical index for evaluating the quality of refract bricks, and the starting softening deformation temperature can be used as a reference value for the upper limit of the working temperature of most refractory bricks under similar working conditions. The load softening temperature is determined instantaneously in the laboratory, while most refractory bricks are used for a long time in practice, that is, they work under the combined of heat load and weight load for a long time, coupled with gas loss, slag erosion and other factors, which make the deformation and cracks of refractory bricks easy to to develop, and can lead to damage. Therefore, the load softening temperature of refractory bricks can only be used as a reference when determining their working temperature. 3. Sintering Temperature (烧结温度) The sintering temperature refers to the lowest temperature at which chemical reactions occur between the particles of a powder material during the of compaction at a certain temperature, thus forming a solid material. The sintered material has a high density and strength, making it suitable for various applications in high-temperature environments The sintering temperature depends on the composition and particle size of the original material, as well as the compaction and heating conditions. The lower the sintering temperature, the the sintering performance of the material, which can improve manufacturing efficiency and reduce manufacturing costs.
