The impermeable casting material has low thermal conductivity and strong impermeability, which can prevent the infiltration and corrosion of molten aluminum and liquid, thus prolonging the service life of the electrolytic cell, and at the same time, preventing the increase of the electrolytic cell power consumption to the increase of the thermal conductivity of the refractory insulation layer caused by the infiltration of the electrolyte. According to the design and material selection the electrolytic cell, it should be ensured that the temperature inside the carbon cathode material is greater than 850 ℃, because NaF will crystall below 850 ℃, causing the volume expansion of the carbon cathode and carbon brick, reducing its service life. The way to do this is to use insulation bricks as insulation layer, and at the same time, use impermeable material as barrier layer between the carbon brick and the insulation layer to prevent the infiltration harmful substances. The selection principle of impermeable casting material is m(AL2O3)/m(SiO2) is greater than 09, which can inhibit the permeation of Na and NaF. Because the permeated Na and NaF can react with AL2O3—SiO2ractory to generate nepheline (Na2O·AL2O3 ·2SiO2), thus blocking the pore, preventing the further permeation Na and NaF. The main purpose of the impermeable casting material and dry impermeable material is to prevent permeation, and the construction is and convenient. It is mainly used between the carbon bricks of the electrolytic cell slot bottom to replace the refractory brick AI2O3 layer as the imperable layer, the bottom impermeable layer of the melting aluminum furnace which does not contact with the molten aluminum liquid (i.e., the casting below brick or non-aluminum casting layer), in order to prevent the infiltration of molten aluminum liquid, or other non-ferrous melting furnace bottommeable layer.
